In another move disrupting the schedule just weeks before kickoff, the San Diego Legion have announced they will spend 2021 in Las Vegas.
While Legion fans will certainly disappointed, this move felt inevitable. As the pandemic rages on, especially in California, the chances of fans filling the stands in San Diego were slim at best. Paired with the Dallas withdrawal, the MLR schedule makers will have to do major surgery to the fixtures. However, this feels like preventative surgery, not life saving. The move to Vegas likely saves a lot decision-making later.
Vegas makes more than just geographical sense. Last year’s (questionable) Vegas weekend did take the show to Sin City. While they won’t be the same draw they would be at home, there will likely be at least some amount of fans.
