NOLA’s Shawn Riley Passes Away

NOLA Gold wing Shawn Riley has passed away from a sever heart issue, the club announced Wednesday.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the loss of our teammate Shawn Riley. Yesterday evening we lost Shawn in a battle with severe heart complications. We will always remember Shawn’s giant smile and generous soul. He will always and forever be apart of our team. pic.twitter.com/jl7evFKU9o

Riley did not pick up rugby until 2012. His first professional experience was in 2016 with PRO Rugby’s Ohio Aviators. 2017 and 2018 saw Shawn return to the club level in North Carolina. The 30 year old wing had been with NOLA since 2019.

Our thoughts are with his family, the NOLA Gold, and the greater MLR community.
