Power Rankings: MLR Round 13

We have our first two teams mathematically eliminated, eight teams fighting for playoff spots, and two more stuck in limbo. The races are reaching white hot levels.

1. Rugby United New York (Last Week: 2)

Hollinshead remains out. Ellis went down early. RUNY doesn’t care. The path through the East goes through the Big Apple (but, hopefully, not Cochrane stadium).

2. LA Giltinis (LW: 3)

I hope DC Coleman enjoyed playing a video game last weekend.

3. Rugby ATL (LW: 1)

A tough loss to a tough team on the road. Give them a break.

4. Utah Warriors (LW: 5)

I still think they’ll mess up a playoff spot.

5. San Diego (LW: 4)

There are about a dozen reasons why the loss in Utah would be forgivable, but its too late for moral victories. This weekend is essentially do or die.

6. New England Free Jacks (LW: 6)

A win against Seattle is worth more now. This team is a tough out at home.

7. NOLA Gold (LW: 8)

This team needs to get healthy along the back line. They’ll need to do that with all remaining games on the road. I’m not optimistic.

8. Austin Gilgronis (LW: 7)

Was their match against the Arrows a preview of what their attack could be?

Nope. Certainly not.

9. Seattle Seawolves (LW: 11)

Officially eliminated, but looking to spoil the fun of everyone in their path.

10. Toronto Arrows (LW: 9)

Would they consider releasing established players early to let them go home? There’s an argument that it wouldn’t be moral, but how many other franchises in all sports just sit the veterans once they’re out? They’d just be making official what all of us know. And no one would be made for letting the boys end their tour early.

11. Old Glory DC (LW: 10)

They had a prime chance to knock off NOLA, but their swinging and yelling got in the way. I understand the struggles of not really playing for anything, but this team needs to show some discipline.

12. Houston SaberCats (LW: 12)

Paul Healy is out after the year. They need a full reset.
