We’re just a month away from Major League Rugby kicking of Season 3, but here at In The Scrum, we’re kicking off Season 1. I suppose we should take a cue from the MLR (which has introduced rugby to thousands of new fans in America) and introduce ourselves to you.
In The Scrum is focused on covering Major League Rugby. If you’re an established fan of American rugby, welcome. If you’re just realizing how incredible this game is, there’s a place for you here as well. In The Scrum strives to be an independent commentator on the League, from kickoff in a month to the lifting of the Shield this summer and beyond. We hope to provide some degree of insight into all twelve teams in the MLR. The League as a whole is continuing to grow, and hopefully we’ll be able to keep up with it. If we’re unable to provide adequate coverage, I suppose we’ll provide inadequate coverage.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll try to set up some of the top storylines heading into the season. Once MLR kicks off, we’ll be watching matches and following every part of the race to lift the Shield.
Admittedly, there will be growing pains. This league now features 12 teams, all of which deserve coverage. We’ll do what we can to give them all something of a fair shake. It’s a long season. Hopefully, we’ll find our footing along the way.
The whistle is blown, and it’s time to start. Guess there’s only one thing left to say:
